School of Nursing and Health Sciences Host Reception for Italian Peers
The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at ÃÛÌÒAPP (ÃÛÌÒAPP) will be hosting a reception on September 24 for their colleagues visiting from the Health Sciences Department at the University of Florence and Meyer Children Hospital, Florence, Italy.
ÃÛÌÒAPP has been in a collaboration with the University of Florence since 2010 as part of a cultural and scientific exchange. School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SONHS) students at ÃÛÌÒAPP have had the unique opportunity to travel to Italy as part of this partnership to compare issues surrounding health and cognitive needs for pediatric patients, while also comparing nursing education between the two countries.
"It is important for ÃÛÌÒAPP nursing students to appreciate the rich religious, historical and architectural influences of Italian culture on today's arts, sciences, religion and architecture in the U.S." said Zepure Samawi, Ph.D., professor and associate dean of undergraduate nursing programs.
The Italian nurse faculty will be visiting ÃÛÌÒAPP from September 24 to October 2, beginning their stay with a reception where they will be presented with two plaques of appreciation from ÃÛÌÒAPP. These plaques will be a small token of gratitude from the University for the ongoing collaboration between the SONHS and their Italian peers.
