Dear Colleagues:
I enjoyed our opportunity to get acquainted last week and now look forward to talking
with individuals and small groups throughout the fall. In the meantime, I want to
provide updates on a number of important subjects.
- Our presidential search committee begins its work next week with a first meeting. The committee will be chaired by
Chuck Newman, vice-chair of the Board of Trustees. Our board chair, Tasha Henderson,
will serve as vice-chair of the committee. Other members include the following trustees,
faculty and staff:
-
- Avis Clendenen, Ph.D. (Board Member)
- Kristina Cummings (Board Member)
- Natasha Granholm (Board Member)
- Tom Hutchinson (Board Member)
- Alexandra Santau, Ph.D. (Faculty)
- Alex King, Ph.D. (Faculty)
- Zepure Samawi, Ph.D. (Faculty)
- Sue Swisher (Staff)
- Julia Cavallo, Ed.D. (CMHE Representative)
I am grateful for all who will spend much time this year leading the search for our
next president. Soon, a website devoted to the search will appear to keep all informed
of our progress.Ìý
- Next week, we will host listening sessions relating to the search. In addition to specific times for various groups, we will have drop-in sessions to
ensure that all have an opportunity to participate. Below is the schedule for these
conversations.
-
- Tuesday, August 29: 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Bishop Quarter Room
- Wednesday, August 30: 9 to 10 a.m., Bishop Quarter Room
- Don't forget that you also are invited to participate in the for the search. The survey will close at noon on Monday, August 28.
- As you understand, the enrollment numbers bounce around during the first weeks of a new fall semester. We will continue to
watch enrollment and net tuition fee revenue (NTFR) numbers closely and will soon
begin an audit of the entire budget with an eye toward understanding if a mid-year
salary/wage adjustment is possible. This is the top priority. I will keep you posted
on this and want to be as transparent as possible about the data.
- Watch for the posting of a new presidential search website that will be a good source
for all. I do plan to cover this information in more than one way to ensure that all
have easy access to our progress.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Sherrick, Ph.D. Interim President
